What’s warming up this Autumn at Tried & True?

As winter settles in, we find ourselves savoring the season’s unique comforts: shorter days, cozy layers, and the warmth of gathering with good friends. It’s a time to slow down, reflect, and enjoy the small moments that colder days bring into focus.

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” John Steinbeck mused. These winter days bring a special kind of peace, helping us appreciate the light and warmth that will return soon enough.

Join us this week for a warm drink, a chat with friends, and a space to reflect as we embrace this season of renewal and optimism. Winter brings us together, and we’re grateful to share these moments with each of you. Here’s to making the most of the season’s magic at Tried & True.

Cheers

Rob & the Tried & True Team

With autumn in full swing, there's nothing quite like a warm bowl of Tomato and Basil soup to cosy up with! The smooth, velvety texture makes it an ideal companion for those chilly days when all you want is a bit of comfort food.

And what's a good bowl of soup without the perfect side? We’re serving it with 2 slices of toasted Seven-seeded Sourdough bread, freshly delivered from Sevenseeded Bakery every morning. This artisan bread has a deliciously nutty crunch that complements the smoothness of the soup.

To make it even better, we include a ramekin of slightly salted British butter on the side—just enough to elevate every bite. It’s the ultimate autumn favourite, guaranteed to warm your heart and soul.

Whether you're stopping by for lunch or looking for something to enjoy after a walk along Putney's autumn streets, this dish is the perfect way to embrace the season.

Explore Putney Market: A Hub of Local Flavours & Fresh Finds!

Held every Saturday just a few steps away on Putney High Street, it's a perfect spot to pick up fresh seasonal produce like pumpkins, squash, and apples.

Whether you're planning a fruit pie or a hearty stew, you’ll find plenty of inspiration here to bring the flavours of autumn into your kitchen.

Don’t forget to grab a hot coffee and a nutritious breakfast from Tried & True on your way there to fuel your weekend shopping!

Did you know?

Putney is notable for its historic significance in the development of the British democratic process.

In 1647, Putney hosted the Putney Debates, a series of discussions among the Levellers, a political movement advocating for universal suffrage and civil rights. These debates took place at St. Mary's Church and addressed key issues like representation and governance.

This pivotal moment in British history not only influenced the future of democracy in England but also highlighted Putney's role as a centre of political thought and activism. Today, the area blends this rich history with a lively community spirit.

Review of the week

This week, we received a delightful review from Jack Gowlett, who shared his experience at our café:

"Stumbled upon this cute cafe after cycling from Chiswick. Sat outside in the sun which was beautiful. Food and service was wonderful!"

He highly recommends our avocado on toast topped with a poached egg, as well as the BBQ pulled pork sarnie.

He even captured a lovely snap of his lunch.

We’re thrilled he enjoyed his visit and look forward to his next!
