November at Tried & True

As we step into November, we’re filled with gratitude for the warmth of our Putney community and the joy of the recent school holidays.

Halloween has brought families together for fun and laughter, and we loved seeing everyone’s creative costumes and smiles as trick-or-treaters filled the streets! This season reminds us of the beauty of togetherness and the joy that comes from making memories with those we love.

Our theme for the week, inspired by Helen Keller’s words, is “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Let’s embrace these values as we power through the rest of the year with focus and positivity to what we can achieve in our personal life, our families and our community.

We’re grateful for each of you and look forward to being part of your holiday moments. Here’s to a productive November, with more time for relaxation, love, and community just around the corner.

Rob & the T&T Team.

It's perfect for anyone looking for a healthy, caffeine-free alternative.

What's on?

Shakespeare in Love @ Putney Arts Theatre

"Shakespeare in Love" will be performed at Putney Arts Theatre from November 12 to 16, 2024, with evening shows at 7:45 PM and a matinee on November 16 at 3 PM.

Young Will Shakespeare faces writer's block as the deadline for his new play approaches. His muse arrives in the form of Viola de Lesseps, who disguises herself as a male actor to star in his work.

As they navigate mistaken identities and the chaotic world of theater, Will's feelings for Viola deepen, inspiring him to craft his greatest masterpiece. This romantic comedy not only explores their love story but also offers insight into the theatrical landscape of 16th-century London, revealing the timeless struggles of creativity and the complexities of show business.

Did you know?

Also known as ANZAC biscuits, they are a beloved treat in Australia and New Zealand, traditionally associated with the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) during World War I.

Made from simple ingredients rolled oats, flour, sugar, butter, and golden syrup, these cookies were sent by wives and women’s groups to soldiers overseas because they could withstand long journeys without spoiling.

The hearty oats and coconut provide both nourishment and energy. Today, ANZAC cookies are enjoyed year-round, symbolizing resilience and remembrance.

Review of the week

We recently received a wonderful review from Rizu Ahmed: "Stopped off here cycling back from Richmond Park. Very friendly staff and very cycle-friendly; allowed us all to take our bikes in—there were 6 of us. Food was lovely and of very high quality. Atmosphere was really nice. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return."

Rizu enjoyed our delicious avocado smash and perfectly fried eggs on toast, capturing some great photos of his meal.

We’re thrilled to hear about his positive experience and look forward to welcoming more cyclists to Tried & True!
